I'm Emir Gluhbegovic. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, where I build technology that transforms businesses.
I've been building software since I was a university student, and wrote my first commercial program while completing my B.Com in Information Systems at the University of Cape Town. What started as a passion for solving problems through code quickly evolved into a career building systems that power businesses.
The intersection of technology and business strategy has always fascinated me. When I founded Symbionix in 2015, I set out to help companies navigate the increasingly complex digital landscape. What began as a consultancy grew into a 10M ZAR annual revenue business, with projects spanning healthcare, fintech, e-commerce, and digital media.
I spent several years as CTO at Hohm Energy, where I transformed an internal solar proposal tool into a full-scale marketplace platform that processed over R1.9B in solar loan applications. By designing flexible architecture that could adapt to evolving business models, we enabled critical pivots from B2B software to B2B2C marketplace solutions.
Today, I'm the Head of Engineering at Glint, where we're building white-label solar platforms that enable market expansion and multi-stakeholder sales. I continue to serve as Director at Symbionix, applying my experience to help businesses turn ideas into robust technical solutions.
I believe in the power of technology to not just solve immediate problems, but to create sustainable growth pathways. Whether rapidly prototyping an MVP, scaling a platform, or leading engineering teams, my approach combines technical precision with strategic vision.
When I'm not building software systems, you'll find me surfing Cape Town's waves, climbing mountains, and exploring the latest developments in AI and technology.
